Long Slender Parts in Application

Scope 9/2016

A relatively recent application case for telescopic ball screws as they are developed by the company A.MANNESMANN is the application in additive manufacturing technologies. Very complex workpieces in special metals, such as titanium, can be manufactured extremely precisely in layers by using 3D laser melting or sintering. This layered structure of the workpiece requires a very accurate infeed system to be housed in a confined installation space. AM telescopic ball screws generate infeed steps in very tight tolerance ranges, and it does so over long stroke movements. In this way, “printed” workpieces with telescope actuators can also be produced in a compact machine.

A.MANNESMANN, the specialist for long slim machine elements, has tapped into new business fields such as 3D prototyping with its products.
